It is essential to understand that the role of an X-ray or Ultrasound technologist is to perform the examination and document observations. The interpreting physician must review and report these observations and images. Issuing a final report/diagnosis represents the practice of medicine and is solely the domain of the interpreting physician. Technologists are not qualified under Canadian law to provide patients with their exam results..
